Write for us
We welcome pitches that make a specific part of sporting culture easier to understand. Proposals should suit curious general readers and offer a clear angle grounded in careful explanation rather than assumed access, sweeping claims or match predictions.
What we welcome
Pitch ideas about sporting symbols, rituals, keepsakes, memory or fandom, including subjects that cross sports when the comparison has a clear purpose. A strong proposal names the particular question it will answer, explains why readers may find it illuminating and shows how the piece will treat context and differing perspectives.
A useful pitch
Send a working headline, a short description of the argument or guiding question, the likely structure and a brief note on relevant experience or perspective. Identify any sources, images or commercial connections that could affect the piece. We welcome original work and clear, reader-focused writing; pitches should not depend on unsupported statistics or claims of private access.
How to send it
Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial option. A pitch is a proposal, not a promise of publication. Please do not send a complete unsolicited manuscript unless we have requested one.
